Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Clarinet Concerto in A major, K. 622, was completed in October 1791 for the clarinettist Anton Stadler. It consists of three movements, in a fast–slow–fast succession.

The work was completed a few weeks before the composer's death, and has been described as his swan-song and his last great completed work. The date of its first performance is not certain, but may have been 16 October 1791 in Prague.

The concerto was written to be played on the basset clarinet, which can play lower notes than an ordinary clarinet, but after the death of Mozart it was published with changes to the solo part to allow performance on conventional instruments. The manuscript score is lost, but from the latter part of the 20th century onwards many performances of the work have been given on basset clarinets in conjectural reconstructions of Mozart's original.

Giovanni Francesco was a violinist by training and profession, born and schooled in Livorno but who made his career in Florence, where he became a highly regarded teacher and performer: he led the orchestra in several premieres of Rossini operas such as Il turco in Italia and Il barbiere di Siviglia. Giuliani also composed dramatic music of his own but he was better known in his own time for instrumental pieces which are indebted in style to the galant music of his teacher Pietro Nardini, whose string quartets (BC94438) and sonatas (BC93347) may also be found in Brilliant Classics recordings.

The earlier Giuliani composed 12 nocturnes for clarinet and harp which here receive their first complete recording. They each have the structure of a slow introduction and a cheerful, quick main movement, unpretentious in character but written with brilliance as well as skill for their instruments, taking full advantage of the contrasting tonal qualities of clarinet and harp.

With Concerto Köln, the clarinet virtuoso presents an all-Vivaldi album including premiere recordings of ‘new’ clarinet concertos drawn from Vivaldi’s catalogue of opera and oratorio arias. Vivaldi only just lived to see the emergence of the clarinet, using it in five pieces. The Italian composer was well aware of the brilliant, virtuosic capabilities of the instrument with its roots in the trumpet-like ‘clarino’, and of the mellow soulfulness of that instrument’s predecessor, the ‘chalumeau’. On this album, Fröst imagines what Vivaldi might have done had he lived long enough to know the clarinet better. Fröst uses a specially built boxwood instrument to get as close as possible to the sound of the best 18th-century clarinets Vivaldi knew without forgoing the technical capabilities of its modern descendants.

In this video coach John Shepherd (http://www.johnshepherdfitness.com/blog) re-visits the hang technique adding further thought and technical consideration to one of the most popular of long jump mid-air actions.
This video follows on from the one he produced on the hang previously and updates on knowledge and thinking. Different styles of the hang are considered such as the hang and the hitch-hang and drills and practises are identified that will help in performing whatever version of the hang selected optimally,
Speaking of which some common faults are also identified and solutions provided.
The video concludes with a bit of a case study of one's one John's squad of Jumpers Paul Ogun and his transition from a hitch-hang to a hitch-kick.
