Requiem Mass in D Minor
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's final Masterpiece was commissioned in mid 1791 by the Austrian count Franz Von Walsegg, as a Tribute to the passing of his young wife Anna. Mozart began his final composition in Prague, suffering from an undetermined illness, which would eventually take his life and rob him of the chance to see the completion of his Magnum Opus. After Mozart's death, his understudy 'Franz Xaver Süssmayr', at the behest of Mozart's wife, completed the missing parts of the Requiem.
Requiem Mass was first performed on January 2, 1793, in a private concert for the benefit of Mozart's grieving wife, Constanze Mozart.
The Following are the lyrics, translated from their Original Latin
Grant them eternal rest, Lord,
and let perpetual light shine on them.
You are praised, God, in Zion,
and homage will be paid to You in Jerusalem.
Hear my prayer,
to You all flesh will come.
Grant them eternal rest, Lord,
and let perpetual light shine on them.
Lord, have mercy on us.
Christ, have mercy on us.
Lord, have mercy on us.
Day of wrath, day of anger
will dissolve the world in ashes,
as foretold by David and the Sibyl.
Great trembling there will be
when the Judge descends from heaven
to examine all things closely.
The trumpet will send its wondrous sound
throughout earth's sepulchres
and gather all before the throne.
Death and nature will be astounded,
when all creation rises again,
to answer the judgment.
A book will be brought forth,
in which all will be written,
by which the world will be judged.
When the judge takes his place,
what is hidden will be revealed,
nothing will remain unavenged.
What shall a wretch like me say?
Who shall intercede for me,
when the just ones need mercy?
King of tremendous majesty,
who freely saves those worthy ones,
save me, source of mercy.
Remember, kind Jesus,
my salvation caused your suffering;
do not forsake me on that day.
Faint and weary you have sought me,
redeemed me, suffering on the cross;
may such great effort not be in vain.
Righteous judge of vengeance,
grant me the gift of absolution
before the day of retribution.
I moan as one who is guilty:
owning my shame with a red face;
suppliant before you, Lord.
You, who absolved Mary,
and listened to the thief,
give me hope also.
My prayers are unworthy,
but, good Lord, have mercy,
and rescue me from eternal fire.
Provide me a place among the sheep,
and separate me from the goats,
guiding me to Your right hand.
When the accused are confounded,
and doomed to flames of woe,
call me among the blessed.
I kneel with submissive heart,
my contrition is like ashes,
help me in my final condition.
That day of tears and mourning,
when from the ashes shall arise,
all humanity to be judged.
Spare us by your mercy, Lord,
gentle Lord Jesus,
grant them eternal rest. Amen.
Lord Jesus Christ, King of glory,
liberate the souls of the faithful,
departed from the pains of hell
and from the bottomless pit.
Deliver them from the lion's mouth,
lest hell swallow them up,
lest they fall into darkness.
Let the standard-bearer, holy Michael,
bring them into holy light.
Which was promised to Abraham
and his descendants.
Sacrifices and prayers of praise, Lord,
we offer to You.
Receive them in behalf of those souls
we commemorate today.
And let them, Lord,
pass from death to life,
which was promised to Abraham
and his descendants.
Lamb of God, who takes away
the sins of the world,
grant them eternal rest.
Lamb of God, who takes away
the sins of the world,
Grant them eternal rest.
Lamb of God, who takes away
the sins of the world,
grant them eternal rest forever.
Let eternal light shine on them, Lord,
as with Your saints in eternity,
because You are merciful.
Grant them eternal rest, Lord,
and let perpetual light shine on them,
as with Your saints in eternity,
because You are merciful.

Video of Donald Trump making crude references to women during a "Hollywood Access" outtake has surfaced. Trump defended the language as "locker room banter.''
It was a hot mic situation and Donald Trump had no idea it was on. He candidly talks about when you're famous you can do anything with women and is caught saying at one point "Grab her by the pussy".

lou reed - new york album LYRICS:
They say he didn't have an enemy
his was a greatness to behold
He was the last surviving progeny
the last one on this side of the world
He measured a half mile from tip to tail
silver and black with powerful fins
They say he could split a mountain in two
that's how we got the Grand Canyon
Last great American whale
last great American whale
Last great American whale
last great American whale
Some say they saw him at the Great Lakes
some say they saw him off of Florida
My mother said she saw him in Chinatown
but you can't always trust your mother
Off the Carolinas the sun shines brightly in the day
the lighthouse glows ghostly there at night
The chief of a local tribe had killed a racist mayor's son
and he'd been on death row since 1958
The mayor's kid was a rowdy pig
spit on Indians and lots worse
The old chief buried a hatchet in his head
life compared to death for him seemed worse
The tribal brothers gathered in the lighthouse to sing
and tried to conjure up a storm or rain
The harbor parted, the great whale sprang full up
and caused a hugh tidal wave
The wave crushed the jail and freed the chief
the tribe let out a roar
The whites were drowned, the browns and reds set free
but sadly one thing more
Some local yokel member of the NRA
kept a bazooka in his living room
And thinking he had the chief in his sight
blew the whale's brains out with a lead harpoon
Last great American whale
last great American whale
Last great American whale
last great American whale
Well Americans don't care for much of anything
land and water the least
And animal life is low on the totem pole
with human life not worth more than infected yeast
Americans don't care too much for beauty
they'll shit in a river, dump battery acid in a stream
They'll watch dead rats wash up on the beach
and complain if they can't swim
They say things are done for the majority
don't believe half of what you see and none of what you hear
It's like what my painter friend Donald said to me
"Stick a fork in their ass and turn them over, they're done"
hilarious dog chasing its tail

Albert Einstein was ridiculed when he first published his theory. People thought it was too weird and radical to be real. Einstein wasn’t satisfied with his theory either, because the theory did not apply if Gravity was present or if the observer was accelerating. One day, while observing a window washer on a ladder near his patent office, he had a thought experiments.
He imagined what would happen if the worker were to fall. He put himself in the window washer’s perspective, and imagined what he would experience as he was falling. He realized that if he was falling, gravity would be the only force acting on him. He would be accelerating towards the ground, but since the ground would not be pushing up on his body, he would feel no weight. And this would be no different than being weightless in space.
In a way gravity and acceleration were different ways to describe the same thing. The way to connect gravity in the theory of relativity was through the idea of acceleration, and this became the basis of general relativity.
Einstein imagined being in a room with no windows, and a bathroom scale. It would weigh 80 Kgs, What if the room was on a space ship accelerating in an upward direction at 9.8 m/s/s. He would feel the same weight. There would be no difference
He imagined what would happen if he took a flashlight and pointed it from one side of the room to the other, as the space ship was accelerating upwards. If he had a ruler, he could measure the height of the light on the other side of the room. He realized that the height measured on the wall would be lower than the source of the light, because the floor of the room would be rushing upwards at ever faster speeds, as the light was propagating across the room. The light beam would appear to curve downward.
However, If you were on earth, and you measured the two heights, you may think that there should be no difference. That light should go straight to the other side of the room. Einstein thought it can’t be because it would violate the principle of equivalence. Acceleration of the room on a space should be no different than the room under the influence of gravity on earth. He realized that this meant light must bend in the presence of a gravitational field.
But light should be going on the shortest path. Then he realized, maybe the shortest path between two points is not a straight line but a curved line near gravity.
This was the key insight that Einstein had about gravity. But in order to express this mathematically, it required very complicated mathematics that even a genius like Einstein could not easily figure out. He contacted an old buddy from his college days, mathematician Marcel Grossman.
It’s important to note that the trampoline analogy you normally see on TV shows and youtube videos like this is a 2D plane used for visualization purposes only, but it is really in 3D.
In order for this theory to really be taken seriously, it had to make a prediction that could be tested, which was confirmed by the fact that it explained Mercury’s orbit which had been a mystery for decades because it had a precession. General relativity predicted exactly the precession that Mercury actually has.
But many skeptics still remained. The most fool proof confirmation came 4 years after he published it,when a team led English Astronomer, Arthur Eddington. in 1919, photographed stars near the sun during a total solar eclipse. He found that light passed near the sun was bent by the curvature of space due to its gravity. This is the moment Einstein became a celebrity.
#generalrelativity
#einstein
why is this not just a distortion of space but also of time?...because special relativity says that light always moves at the same speed regardless of perspective or reference frame. This means that light will have the same speed in an accelerating reference frame as it will in a resting reference frame. But since the distance traveled by the beam of light in a gravitational field is longer due the curving of space, in order for the speed of light to remain constant, time itself must pass slower in the gravitational field relative to time in empty space.
General relativity does not answer everything. Although it tells us how gravity works, it doesn’t really tell us what exactly it is.

Rocket Science and orbital mechanics of Satellites.
There are about 3000 operational satellites, owned by over 100 different countries orbiting the earth right now. About 550 of these are in geo stationary orbits - the satellite appears stationary compared to the rotation of the earth. Communications satellites are typically in such orbits. These allow you to leave your satellite dish in one position, and never have to change it.
Orbital mechanics is rooted in Keppler’s laws of planetary motion & Newton’s laws of universal gravitation.
These laws allow us to calculate the period and speed of such a satellite.
Speed = S = sq root(mu/r) mu= standard gravitational parameter
Period = T = 2pi*sq root(r^3/mu)
r = radius of orbit = altitude + radius of earth
mu = Newton’s universal gravitational constant x mass of planet
A geostationary orbit is 35,786 km from the equator. The orbital period is 23.93 hours, or 23 hours 56 minutes which is the time it actually takes for the earth to complete one rotation. The reason we normally count 24 hours as being one day, is because 24 hours is the precise time the sun is at the same spot in the sky every day.
To got into its orbit, the satellite is launched on a rocket. In the United States, one workhorse rocket has been the Atlas V. It weighs 700,000 lbs at launch and can lift 28,000 lbs to geostationary orbit. The main engine is powered by liquid oxygen, the oxidizer and RP-1 – which is form of kerosene, similar to jet fuel.
Rocket engines are an application of Newton’s third law, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. The combustion of fuel causes high pressure exhaust gases to be expelled at supersonic speed. The rearward acceleration of the mass of the fuel leaving the rocket nozzle causes the equal and opposite reaction of forward thrust powering the rocket upward.
Maintaining a stable straight flight comes from swiveling the thrust nozzle to keep it stable. This is called gimbaled thrust.
A geosynchronous orbit is achieved in stages. Typically, the rocket takes the satellite on its orbital altitude, but the initial orbit is elliptical. This elliptical orbit has to be changed to a circular orbit to become geostationary. The satellite continues on an elliptical orbit until accelerating the rocket at precisely the right time during its trajectory forms a circular orbit at the geostationary distance, which is at 35,786 km above the earth’s equator. There is no other geostationary orbit.
Since there are 500 satellites at that altitude, the real estate is limited. This real estate at the geo stationary orbit is tightly controlled by an organization called, the international telecommunications union (ITU) which assigns each satellite a slot at this perimeter.
In addition, unless the rocket is launched from somewhere in the equator, it will have an orbit that is not quite geo stationary because it will not be in line or in the same plane relative to the equator. So for example, when satellites are launched from Cape Canaveral, which is located at about 28.5 degrees north latitude, the orbit will be inclined 28.5 degrees from the equator. This has to be adjusted, in a directional change requiring fuel. Thus, it is beneficial for countries to launch their rockets as close to the equator as possible so that less rocket fuel is needed to make this adjustment.
The first thing that happens after a satellite reaches its permanent orbit is that solar panels are deployed so that the satellite can have power to function. It orients itself relative to the sun and the earth, and establishes communication links. The main function of the satellite is to receive signals from earth mainly in the form of radio transmissions, amplify them, and relay them back at a different frequency back to the surface of the earth. The shift in frequency is used to prevent interference of incoming signals with outgoing signals.
#geostationary
#rocketscience
#satellites
since radio waves are a form of electromagnetic radiation, same as visible light, they do not bend around the curvature of earth – photons are too fast after all, the job of the satellite is to transmit radio waves over long distances. Otherwise, this would require a string of thousands of relay stations on earth to do the same task.
Interestingly, a geostationary orbit is sometimes called the Clarke orbit, named for science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke, who wrote 2001-a space odyssey. Believe it or not, he was the first person to detail the usefulness of such an orbit in a story he wrote back in 1945.
